Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Ibrahim Sikiru for killing his biological father.

The suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at Onipanu Divisional headquarters of Ogun State by one Abiodun Sunday, a neighbour to the deceased.

According to Sunday, the deceased, Mumuni Ibrahim, a night security man came home and met his son who was still sleeping, and when he questioned him why he was still sleeping at that time of the day, the suspect got annoyed and brought out cutlass, with which, he dealt machete cuts on the victim in five different places.

Upon the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Onipanu division, Bamidele Job, quickly mobilised his men and moved to the scene, where the suspect was arrested and the victim rushed to the General Hospital for treatment.

The police said Sikiru, suspected to be a cultist has no reasonable explanation for his action when interrogated.

The Guardian learnt that the victim gave up the ghost, while receiving treatment at the General Hospital, and the family insisted on burying him according to the dictates of his religion.

MEANWHILE, the commissioner of police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
