Ogun police parade five suspected ritualists

Ogun State Police Command has paraded a five-man ritualist syndicate, who have been exhuming corpses from graves and removing their parts for ritual purposes.

Ogun State Police Command has paraded a five-man ritualist syndicate, who have been exhuming corpses from graves and removing their parts for ritual purposes.  

   
The suspects are: 60-year-old Oshole Fayemi, 50-year-old Lawal Olaiya, 39-year-old Osemi Adesanya, 30-year-old Ismaila Seidu and 69-year-old Oseni Oluwasegun.  
   
Spokesperson for the Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement, yesterday, said the suspects were arrested on Saturday, March 11, 2023. 
 
According to him, the suspects were arrested following information received by the Police at Odogbolu Divisional Headquarters, that the ritualists who are responsible for series of corpse exhumations within Ososa community were planning somewhere within the town to carry out another round of harvest for human parts.  
 
“Upon the information, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Odogbolu division, Godwin Idehai, mobilised his men and stormed the suspects’ hideout, where five of them were apprehended. 
 
“On interrogation, the suspects made confessional statements that they were actually into the business of exhuming corpses from graves and that they sell parts of such corpses to their standby buyers who need it for money-making rituals. 

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba, has directed that the suspects be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), for investigation and possible prosecution.
