Ohanaeze faction tags Umahi new Zik of Africa
Gov attributes administration’s successes to divine directive
The Chidi Ibeh-led faction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has described Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State as the new Zik of Africa due to his achievements.
Umahi, however, attributed the successes of his administration to divine directives and charged other leaders to hold on to God for successful reign.
In a statement in Abakaliki yesterday, the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said that at 58 years old, the Igbo expect that Umahi should move to the national scene in 2023, as “he is eminently qualified to hold any position or occupy any office.”
According to Isiguzoro, the governor’s track record in governance and his entrepreneurial spirit speak volumes of him.
Umahi was born July 25, 1963.
Speaking during a thanksgiving service at Christ Embassy Church, Mile 50, Abakaliki, the governor thanked God for giving him the wonderful opportunity to witness his 58 birthday as well as his mercies and grace.
His words: “What is happening in Ebonyi is not by the power of man, but the power of God. If you want to manipulate me, you have to manipulate God first because I am protected by him.
“I ask anybody who wants to succeed me in 2023 to approach a genuine altar of God where success can come from. It is good to depend on God. When you help the poor, when we trust God, when we put our faith in God, then we have less time for distractions.”
According to the governor, there will be no political squabbles of any kind in 2023, if the right thing is done.
“If I call all the leaders of the state to bring in a successor, there will be no fight; but there will be a fight if I single-handedly pick someone to succeed me,” he added.
The governor also reiterated the commitment of his administration to complete all ongoing projects and even initiate new ones before the curtain falls on his leadership in 2023.
