Oil major reviews pact to catalyse SDGs’ attainment

Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) has reviewed its Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU) to catalyse the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the country by 2030.

The General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs (PGPA) of the oil major, Mr. Esimaje Brikinn, disclosed this yesterday during the 2019 yearly general meeting of Ilaje Rural Development Advocacy Committee Initiatives (Ilaje-RDC) in Ondo State.

According to him, the review is also to deepen adherence of the fundamental aspects of the pact namely transparency and accountability.

Represented by the PGPA Area Manager, Mr. Sam Daibo, the spokesman explained further that it gives room for operational excellence, creativity, sustainable economic empowerment programmes as well as development of small businesses and enterprises.

“We reviewed the GMoU to align more with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It seeks to improve efficiency, cost effectiveness, stakeholders’ participation and innovations that would add value to the GMoU model,” he stated.

Chairman of Ilaje-RDC, Mr. Adekunle Omomowo, who assured the oil firm of peaceful coexistence, urged Chevron to equally appraise its ratio for allocating job slots among the RDCs.
