Cold war has trailed the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) that ends tomorrow in Ondo State as the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the major opposition, All Progressives Congress (APC) accused each other of parallel and multiple voters’ registration.

The PDP State Publicity Director, Ayo Fadaka, in a statement made available to journalists in Akure, accused APC of parallel registration in the ongoing INEC exercise, saying it is “not only criminal but absolutely unpatriotic.”

But the Stage Publicity Secretary of APC, Abayomi Adesanya refuted the allegation and described it as a figment of PDP’s imagination, saying the accusation was not only false but also a defamation of character.

Adesanya explained that APC in the state is only doing registration of its new members across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state, ascribing an ulterior motive whatsoever as a false alarm. “What APC is doing is the registration of new members not voters’ registration. We want to know the number of our members across the state.

“Corruption brought PDP together and now that the corruption has been uprooted by the present administration, they cannot survive till 2019,” he said.

Meanwhile, Fadaka has petitioned the state security agencies over the development and expressed disappointment over the lackadaisical attitude of the security agencies towards the allegation.
