Accident on Sagamu-Benin Expressway

One person has died in an auto crash that occurred after a truck rammed into a bus along Osoosa/Bigi junction on the Sagamu-Benin expressway in Ogun State.

18 other persons also sustained varying degrees of injuries from the accident.

Vehicles in the crash are: Mercedes Benz Truck with the registration number :FZE 223 CR and Toyota Hiace Bus with registration number: KTP 331 XC.

Spokesperson of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency(TRACE) Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday.

Akinbiyi said that 20 people were involved in the crash, where 18 persons sustained injuries and one person died.

He said that the cause of the accident was due to excessive speed of the part of the driver of the Mercedes truck who lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the Toyota bus.

The TRACE Public Relations Officer said that its operatives and that of Amotekun, police and army were on ground for rescue mission.

He said that the injured victims and the presumed dead have been rescued to IDERA hospital Odogbolu and Babcock teaching hospital and Morgue.

Akinbiyi said that the the accident vehicles had been had been evacuated and towed to Papa Oscar cage at Obalende Police Division.
