One dies, seven injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway accident
One person died while seven others were injured, yesterday, in an auto-crash that occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The Guardian gathered that the accident occurred at the Magboro bus stop in the Obafemi Owode local council of Ogun state.
Eyewitness account revealed that about four vehicles were involved in the accident, adding that a truck rammed into a yellow bus.
The sources: “Two loaded trucks were coming from Lagos and one was trying to overtake the other while some cars that were moving inward Magboro had already lined up on a lane coming down from the expressway. While buses going outward of Lagos were dropping passengers, and in the process, the truck rammed over the bus.”
It was gathered that after the truck collided with the bus, the vehicles all swerved into the street that led to a market in the area.
Confirming the accident, the Public Relations Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Command, Florence Okpe, said: “The incident happened around 16:30hrs at Magboro bus stop, 22 people were involved in the accident, seven people were injured while one person died.”
She attributed the cause of the accident to brake failure and over speeding.
