After his marriage to Silekunola Naomi crashed in December 2021, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has unveiled a new wife.

The foremost traditional ruler officially tied the nuptial knot with Mariam Anako, a daughter to an ex-police officer. Olori Mariam Anako, who hails from the Ebira ethnic group of Kogi State is an oil and gas executive with NestOil.

The video clip of the wedding rites being performed at the Ile-Ife palace on Tuesday was uploaded by the Director of Media and Strategy, Oduduwa Palace, Moses Olafare on his verified facebook page.

Recall that Naomi ended her three-year marriage to the traditional ruler in December 2021. She said her decision to get out of the union with the monarch was the best thing to do at the moment, revealing that her husband “has a picture he would love the world to see and perceive him as and another one which is his true self.”

Since the separation, Ooni has been single, until Tuesday when he officially unveiled the new wife in a low-key wedding ceremony.
The Ooni’s union with Naomi produced a son, Tadenikawo, who celebrated his first birthday in November 2021 before Naomi left the palace.

Palace sources said Ooni had on February 19, 2022 met with his new in-laws for family introduction said to have been private and lacked fanfare due to the monarch’s preference for media blackout.

Sources had revealed that Mariam, whose parents are based in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, had lost her dad at a young age and was brought up in the home of the former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Dikko Abubakar, who resigned between 2012 to 2014.

MD Abubakar, as he is popularly called, is the in-law of Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, while the Ooni’s new mother-in-law is a retired police officer.
 Anako works in NestOil.
