Optometrists task FG on visual impairment

Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA) has charged the Federal Government to design policies and programmes that will give prioritise the tackling of visual impairment and related diseases in the country.

President of NOA, Dr. Ozy Okonokhua, while speaking at the association’s 43rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) and expo themed ‘Achieving Universal Access to Eye Health: The Way forward’ at the Calabar International Conference Centre (CICC), Cros River State, pointed out that “if policies and programmes are designed in a manner that eye-related problems are built into budgets of primary healthcare nationwide, it will lead to a drastic reduction in the disease burden in various communities.”
