Organisation trains primary school teachers in Kebbi


The Kebbi State Government in collaboration with Jolly Phonics, a United Kingdom-based organisation, has organised a three-day workshop for 1, 452 primary school teachers and 120 mentors on English Language and handwriting methodology.

Speaking, yesterday, in Birnin Kebbi, the state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Alhaji Magawata Aliero said the training would improve the literacy level of pupils and teachers, and also revive the formal teaching methodology in the education sector.

He expressed satisfaction with the programme and said it would run across the state’s 21 councils.

Similarly, Director of Quality Assurance in the ministry, Alhaji Hassan Umar, said the programme was to improve the primary school children literacy level.

According to him, over N233 million has been approved by the Governor, Atiku Bagudu for the training to improve the literacy level of pupils.
