Oseni promises completion of Cervical Cancer Centre at Investiture

The President, Rotary Club of Isolo, Abimbola Oseni has vowed to address the problem of cervical cancer among the women folk by ensuring the completion of the Cervical Cancer Centre at Isolo General Hospital, Lagos, saying it is her star project for her service year.

The President, Rotary Club of Isolo, Abimbola Oseni has vowed to address the problem of cervical cancer among the women folk by ensuring the completion of the Cervical Cancer Centre at Isolo General Hospital, Lagos, saying it is her star project for her service year.

She gave the promise at her investiture ceremony where she officially got the baton as the 43rd President of the club for the Rotary year 2023-2024 with the theme “Create Hope in the World”.

The event, which was held at the Event Centre, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos, was also used to induct the 2023-2024 board members, raise funds for club projects and present awards to deserving individuals.

Oseni, in her acceptance speech, said that in line with the theme for the Rotary year, ‘hope’ is a powerful force that has the ability to transform lives, communities and even the world.

“As the 43rd president of this club, I pledge that we will embrace this theme wholeheartedly and tirelessly work together to create hope in our community and beyond as we carry out projects in line with Rotary International seven areas of focus.

“We will create hope by continuing our commitment to education, vocational training, empowering our youths with the knowledge and skills they need to build a better future among others,” she said.

Oseni said she started her Rotary year by visiting, felicitating and giving gifts to the visually impaired at Federal Nigeria Society for the Blind and Vocational Centre, Oshodi, which was followed by maternal and child health project for the month of July at Isolo General hospital.

She pledged to donate of N10,000,000 to Rotary Foundation, disclosing that she would be aided by seven honorary members who are captains of industries.

She added that she would continue to work with the four Rotaract clubs in the district.

Doyen of the club, Past District Governor, Dr. Michael Olawale Cole, said he believes that Oseni would take the club to a higher height.

The Guest Speaker, Majek Okunola Owoo, lauded the ideals of Rotary International.

Chairperson, Investiture Committee, 2023-2024, Princess Tokunboh Allison, assured that humanitarian projects that would touch lives in all the seven areas of focus would be carried out in the Rotary service year.          `
