Osun: APC vows to defeat Adeleke, secure victory for Oyebamiji

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared its determination to defeat the incumbent Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, in the forthcoming governorship election and secure victory for its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

The resolve was reiterated on Monday at the inaugural meeting of members of the APC National Campaign Council for the Osun State governorship election held at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.

The meeting held at the Kano governors lodge in Abuja was convened by the National Campaign Council chaired by Imo State Governor and Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodinma, with Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, serving as secretary.

Addressing members of the council, Uzodinma said the primary objective of the campaign structure was to mobilise support and deploy all necessary strategies to ensure the APC wins the Osun governorship election.

Uzodinma who chairs the progressives governors forum 31 members said the meeting was not convened for celebration or political jamboree but to prepare party members for the task ahead.

According to him, “The plan is to go and support our brothers and sisters in Osun State to win the forthcoming election. This meeting is not for merrymaking. It’s not for any jamboree. It is for people to come and offer service.”

Uzodinma said members of the various subcommittees had been mandated to meet within the next few days and submit concrete proposals on how they could contribute to the success of the campaign.

He said the committees were expected to submit their resolutions and proposals to the national secretary of the council, including areas where they would require assistance from the Central Working Committee.

“We have only one mission, to win the election. Everything can come after the elections,” he said.

The APC campaign council chairman also directed the finance subcommittee to mobilise financial contributions from willing party members and other supporters for the Osun governorship campaign.

“The finance subcommittee is mandated to collect all contributions from willing members and non-members who want to make contributions to the Osun governorship election,” he stated.

He urged members to focus on their assigned responsibilities, stressing that the success of the campaign would depend on coordinated efforts by the various committees.

The APC is seeking to wrest control of Osun State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the governorship election, with Oyebamiji expected to lead the party’s challenge against Adeleke.

Uzodinma said the campaign council would prioritise all activities and strategies capable of making the APC’s task of winning the election easier.

He further discouraged lengthy introductions at the meeting, noting that members were already known to one another and had been formally listed by the party.

The meeting was attended by members of the National Campaign Council constituted to coordinate the APC’s campaign for the Osun governorship election.
