• APC chieftain, Oyintiloye, urges Tinubu to ignore opposition ‘antics’, focus on governance
• Implores President to strengthen security, investigate incident

Osun State Police Command, yesterday, said an investigation into the recently reported killings in the state had yielded results, disclosing that the suspects allegedly involved in the dastardly act will soon be tracked down to face justice.

A statement by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abiodun Ojelabi, hinted that some identified individuals, who allegedly perpetrated the dastardly act, were currently at large.

Ojelabi, who said that no effort would be spared to ensure their arrest, urged members of the public with credible hints to assist the police, assuring that such information will be treated with confidentiality.

The statement added that the police had been notified of a planned protest by a faceless group identified through intelligence as the “Congress of Cultists,” allegedly associated with the Neo-Black Movement, also known as Black Axe.

It therefore cautioned any individual or group planning to cause chaos, disturb public peace, or engage in any form of criminality to have a rethink, maintaining that the police and other security agencies will not fold their hands and allow miscreants to use any opportunity to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere and destroy lives and property.

Meanwhile, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged President Bola Tinubu not to be distracted by what he described as the tactics of opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said the President should rather remain focused on governance, particularly addressing security challenges and consolidating measures to protect lives and property across the country.

‎The Command further advised individuals or groups with grievances or disputes to seek lawful means of resolving such issues, warning that no person or group should take the law into their hands or resort to violence, self-help, or any form of reprisal attack.

It also implored parents, community leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders and responsible members of the public to prevail on youths and other persons within their communities not to participate in any act capable of destabilising the state.

Oyintiloye spoke with journalists yesterday in Osogbo against the backdrop of the recent intelligence alert by the Department of State Services (DSS) on possible attacks on vulnerable locations, particularly in parts of southern Nigeria.

He, however, urged Tinubu to support security agencies to intensify surveillance, improve intelligence gathering and strengthen inter-agency collaboration to prevent attacks.

The APC chieftain also called for an immediate and transparent investigation into the recent killings in Osun State, urging security agencies to identify and prosecute those found culpable.
