Osun senator rallies communities for voter registration

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industry, Francis Fadahunsi, has called on Nigerians of voting age to take part in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to strengthen democracy and ensure full participation in future elections.

Speaking with journalists in Ilase-Ijesa, Osun State, on Tuesday, the lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District said he has been actively mobilising communities to register, including reaching out to traditional rulers, cultural custodians, and community leaders.

“I have personally gone around to ensure that stakeholders who will facilitate the process are actively on board. Particularly, reaching the kings, custodians of cultural heritage, and community leaders,” Fadahunsi said.

He urged residents, including long-term settlers, to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). “We are urging people in the community to register. Including the longtime settlers in our environment, the Hausa farmers, Fulani herdsmen, and the Igedes. They all must register and get a PVC,” he added.

Fadahunsi said inclusive participation in the electoral process was critical to ensuring that all groups have a voice in shaping governance.
