Authorities of the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) yesterday ordered the students to proceed on mid-term break and vacate the premises to forestall looming trouble.

The Guardian learnt that the decision might have been informed by mounting tension following the death of a female student, Feyisara Odeyinka, a sickle cell patient, in a private hospital at Oke Bale area following an illness.

Sources in the school told The Guardian yesterday that the management, at an emergency meeting, resolved to close the institution to douse tension as students from other tertiary institutions stormed the campus to foment trouble over the death of their colleague, and two others who were shot when the police stormed the Oke Baale residence of the students on Saturday.

The Registrar, Mr. Gafar Shittu told The Guardian that many strange faces that were seen on the campus might have compelled the closure of the university.
