Abia State governor-elect, Dr. Alex Otti, yesterday, announced a list of professionals and technocrats in business, economics, entrepreneurship and politics as members of his transition council ahead of his May 29 inauguration and formal assumption of office.

Abia State governor-elect, Dr. Alex Otti, yesterday, announced a list of professionals and technocrats in business, economics, entrepreneurship and politics as members of his transition council ahead of his May 29 inauguration and formal assumption of office.

A statement from the Transition Council (TC) Secretariat said: “Council has articulated a policy document that would forge a direction and developmental agenda for Abia, in line with vision of the governor-elect for the state.”

The TC will be chaired by the Partner and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of KPMG, Victor Onyenkpa, and co-chaired by former Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Ifueko Okauru. The list include former Director General of Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Arunma Oteh; a Nigerian-born inventor, who helped Apple design a Semi-Conductor for the iPhone, Prof. Ndubuisi Ekekwe.

Others are the immediate past Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), Uche Orji;  Group Managing Director (GMD) of Aiteo Oil and Gas, Victor Okoronkwo; Founder of ABC Transport Company, Frank Nneji, and the President, of Nigeria Association of Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Ide John Udeagbala.

The statement noted that the governor-elect would inaugurate the council on Friday at Aba.

It said: “ the choice of Aba, the commercial nerve centre of Abia State, for the inauguration of the council is strategic, as well as significant, considering that the Enyimba City (Aba) would be the centrepiece of the incoming Otti government’s economic and infrastructural development plan.”

Recall that Otti had, during his campaigns, indicated that he would create a ministry for Aba to take charge of its urban and physical renewal, and return its status as  foremost commercial and industrial hub of South East Nigeria.
