Gov. Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has sympathised with residents following the havoc caused by a rainstorm in parts of the state on Saturday evening.
The governor, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, assured the residents that, “We are in it together.”
According to him, the state government remains committed to the welfare of residents and will provide timely succour to rainstorm victims.
The storm affected numerous private and public buildings, as well as facilities across the state. However, no lives were lost in the incident.
The governor has directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to immediately assess affected properties to assist victims appropriately.
Assuring residents they would not be abandoned, Oyebanji urged them to remain calm and continue their daily activities without fear.
He added that the government would take inventory of the damaged properties and facilities, with the aim of responding swiftly and effectively.
