Oyetola signs anti-open grazing bill into law
Urges herdsmen to embrace ranching in Osun
Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has signed the anti-open grazing bill into law.
He said provisions had been made for herdsmen to practise the ranching system.
The House of Assembly had on August 12, this year, passed the bill to regulate animal grazing and establishment of cattle ranches and other related matters.
The Speaker, Timothy Owoeye, at the plenary said the bill would prevent the destruction of farm crops, adding that defaulters are liable to three years jail term without option of fine as well as forfeiture of their cattle to the state government.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ismail Omipidan, stated yesterday that the governor signed the bill a week ago.
