The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has appointed grassroots politician and legal practitioner, Asiwaju (Barrister) Yemi Aderibigbe, as the Director-General of his campaign council.
The appointment was announced in a statement personally signed by Alli on Tuesday and made available to journalists in Ibadan.
The APC standard-bearer said Aderibigbe was chosen in recognition of his track record of selfless leadership, grassroots mobilisation and unwavering commitment to the progressive movement in Oyo State.
Alli described the former Chairman of Akinyele Local Government Area as a seasoned administrator who has remained closely connected with the grassroots, noting that his dedication to the welfare of the people has remained consistent over the years.
The senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District expressed confidence that Aderibigbe’s wealth of political experience, leadership acumen and deep understanding of the state’s political landscape would strengthen the party’s campaign and enhance its chances in the governorship election.
He urged the new Director-General to provide effective leadership in coordinating the campaign council and mobilising party members and supporters across the state.
According to Alli, Aderibigbe has made significant contributions to the political, social and economic development of Oyo State and remains one of the pillars of progressive politics in the state.
“Asiwaju Yemi Aderibigbe is one of the pillars of progressive politics in our dear state. He has made immense contributions to the political, social and economic development of Oyo State.
“He is a loyal party leader and bridge-builder whose unwavering commitment to party development and the mentoring of younger politicians remains exemplary.
“We have chosen him to lead, organise and mobilise members of our great party and the people of the state to work for the success of the APC at the polls.
“As an experienced administrator with an impeccable record of public service and a committed progressive, I am confident that Aderibigbe’s leadership qualities will strengthen our campaign.
“As a team player, I have no doubt that he will excel in this assignment by effectively coordinating the campaign council alongside other distinguished leaders and members of our great party,” Alli said.
Aderibigbe previously served as Chairman of Akinyele Local Government Area and later as Special Adviser on Transport during the administration of the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
