Oyo State governor-elect Seyi Makinde on Monday debunked the rumour that one of his aides was shot dead.

“It’s been brought to my attention that a rumour is being peddled that my PA was shot dead today. Please disregard this unfounded rumour which is #FakeNews,” Makinde said in a tweet.

“My PA was never shot nor harmed at any point, he is well and alive. Thank you.”

The death rumour of his aide surfaced after Makinde was declared the winner of Oyo State governorship election held on Saturday, March 9 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The People Democratic Party (PDP) candidate polled 515, 621 votes to defeat candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adebayo Adelabu who polled 357,982 votes.

Makinde trounced Adelabu with wide margin of 157,639 votes.

Besides, PDP recorded a landslide victory in 28 local councils, APC won five while African Democratic Party (ADP) also won one council.
