The Oyo State Police Command has achieved another notable success in its ongoing efforts to fight crime by recovering a firearm, vandalised cables, and other suspected stolen items, and by arresting three suspects connected to the crimes.
The breakthrough came after a report from Akanni Hamsat, a 42-year-old resident of Bara Apaara, Oyo, who reported his welding machine stolen from his shop. His investigation led him to trace the stolen machine to a scrap shop in the area.
Acting on this information, police operatives from Durbar Division quickly raided the location and arrested the shop owner, 30-year-old Suhaib Abdulwahab of Akunlemu Area, Oyo.
A search conducted at the premises led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol, armour cables belonging to NTA Oyo, which had earlier been reported vandalised on 21 May 2026, as well as several car air-conditioning components suspected to be stolen.
Further investigation and the arrest of the scrap shop owner led to the apprehension of two additional suspects identified as Kabiril Mustapha and Abdullah Abdullah, aged 25, both of Akunlemu Area, Oyo, who are believed to be connected to the crimes.
The recovered exhibits have been taken into police custody, while investigations continue to determine the full extent of the suspects’ involvement and to identify other possible accomplices. The suspects are cooperating with investigators as inquiries progress.
