Ozigbo mentors music entrepreneurs as clerics, artistes pray for leaders
Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 2021 Anambra State election, Valentine Ozigbo, yesterday, declared that this year’s 2021 Unusual Praise event focused on prayers for Nigeria’s leaders and those in authority.
Ozigbo, who was accompanied by his wife, Ojiugo and former Governor Peter Obi, expressed delight at the opportunity of contributing to the advancement of the gospel of Jesus Christ in Africa, said: “We need peace and visionary leadership where nobody and sections of will be marginalised.”
Speaking at the event in Onitsha, Anambra State, Ozigbo noted: “For those of us who are usually busy, Unusual Praise presents an opportunity for us to devote an evening to thank God for all He has done for us and prepare for the coming year.”
He said the event was not politically-motivated, as he had been involved in such programmes before he veered into politics, adding that he chaired the 2018 edition and established another project called Unusual Entrepreneur to provide mentorship, guidance and advice to budding, needy persons.
“The essence of this is for you to be empowered to make impact through your calling. Significantly, this empowerment is coming from the Church because it is crucial to combine hard work and faith to achieve better results.
“It is also important that you stay focused and listen to advice from your mentors. The mentorship that comes with the cash grant is key to your progress and I am offering myself as one of your mentors.
“It is a thing of joy to see that people can come to church to receive spiritual edification, but also get economic empowerment.”
I will continue to contribute my quota to ensure that we continue the tradition of praise, thanksgiving and re-dedication to God,” he stated.
Speaking, Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Reverend Valerian Maduka Okeke led prayers for Anambra State, Nigeria and their leadership for peace and an end to security challenges.
The cleric, who commended the organisers and participants of Africa’s biggest Catholic Church transformational gospel ministration tagged: Unusual Praise 2021: Lift Anambra for Christ at the Cathedral Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha, described musical ministration in thanksgiving, praise and worship of God, as spiritually edifying.
In his sermon, Rev. Fr. Mike Okagbue, pointed out that all have sinned and come short of God’s Glory, calling for repentance and search for God’s mercy, forgiveness and favour, even as he pleaded for cleansing and deliverance from curses, especially in Southern Nigeria, with Anambra State as the point of contact for divine transformation.
