Ozoro community gets vigilance outfit to combat crime

Determined to bring about relative peace and security in Ozoro community, headquarters of Isoko North Local Council of Delta State, leaders in the oil-rich community have inaugurated a vigilance security outfit called Ozoro Peace and Security Committee (OPASCO), in collaboration with the police to combat crime and ensure the safety of lives and property.
While inaugurating the 27-man security outfit at Opute Town Hall, Ozoro, the Ovie of Ozoro kingdom, Anthony Uvietobore Ogbogbo, charged them to be ambassadors of peace and operate within the ambit of the law, and promote effective community policing that would reduce crime to the barest minimum.
The royal father warned against compromise from any quarters in the discharge of their duties. He also harped on the need for members of the community to be on the alert and render useful information to the police and other security agencies to help nip crime in the bud.
While speaking on the challenges of security in the area, representative of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ozoro Division, SP Regina Orowo Omuyeh, the DCO of the station, stated that there would be no hideout for criminals, just as she said any criminal caught would be handed over to the police to avoid miscarriage of justice. She commended the newly- inaugurated security outfit for volunteering and their keen interest to serve their community.
