Pass PIB for Nigeria’s greatness, PENGASSAN urges government

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has said the passage Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) holds the key to the nation’s overall transformation and reinventing in the comity of nations.

Consequently, it urged government to prioritise the piece of legislation due to its ability to attract growth to all sectors of the national economy.

The union noted that the eventual coming to being of the law would prepare the future of a nation without oil. 

In its message to mark the country’s 58th independence, PENGASSAN noted that Nigeria was yet to take her rightful place at the global stage due to shirked responsibilities.

A statement by its president, Francis Olabode Johnson and general secretary, Lumumba Okugbawa, said there was need for the citizens to be grateful, as the nation had remained united amid turbulent times in her recent history.

Noting that this year’s celebration was significant since it precedes an election calendar, the oil workers called on government to provide the needed leadership.
