PDP appoints Aminu Tambuwal D-G of Presidential Campaign Organisation
Nigeria’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has appointed the governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, as the director-general of the party’s Presidential Campaign Organisation.
Other appointees into the body, chaired by the Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel, are governors Bala Mohammed (Bauchi) and Seyi Makinde (Oyo) as vice chairmen for the northern and southern regions, respectively.
This was contained in a statement signed by the party’s organising secretary, Umar Mohammed Bature, and made available to The Guardian.
Tambuwal, as the D-G of the campaign, will be deputised by Senator Liyel Imoke, Prof Adewale Oladipo, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, and Chief Okwesilieze Nwodo to supervise operations, administration, technical and systems, and research and strategy, respectively.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has given political parties a September 28, 2022 date for the official commencement of national campaigns ahead of the 2023 elections.
