Chief Kefas Wungak Ropshik has picked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship nomination forms to contest the 2027 Plateau State governorship election, pledging to reposition the state towards productivity, enterprise, and inclusive growth.
Ropshik, who hails from Garram village in Kanke Local Government Area, said his decision followed deep reflection, prayers, and extensive consultations with stakeholders across the state.
He said his aspiration was driven by a conviction that Plateau State could achieve more if it embraced a production-oriented economy rather than dependency.
“After deep reflection, prayers, and sincere conversations, I have made the bold but humble decision to offer myself to serve as Governor of Plateau State—not because of position, not because of ambition, but because I truly believe our state can become much more, and our people deserve much more,” he said.
Ropshik noted that his interactions across communities had exposed him to the challenges facing citizens, particularly youths, women, and families struggling for economic opportunities.
“I have listened to the hopes of our youths, witnessed the resilience of our women, and felt the daily struggles of families who work hard yet long for greater opportunities,” he said.
The PDP aspirant said his vision for Plateau would focus on key sectors such as agriculture, tourism, technology, business, and industry as engines of growth.
He stressed the need for a deliberate shift towards productivity, innovation, and job creation to unlock the state’s economic potential.
“I believe Plateau must move beyond dependence and step boldly into an era of enterprise, innovation, productivity, and opportunity,” he said.
Ropshik added that his ambition was rooted in service rather than personal gain, describing himself as a “servant-leader” committed to laying a stronger foundation for future generations.
“My name is Kefas, the rock, and I believe God has prepared me to help lay a stronger foundation for generations to come,” he said.
He appealed to party members and residents of the state for support, prayers, and trust as he begins his political journey.
