The National Economic Council had, during its meeting in October, directed states to immediately inaugurate judicial commissions of inquiry for complaints relating to police brutality and extra-judicial killings in the country.

The resolution was in the wake of the nationwide youth protests that claimed lives and properties.

Forty-five days later, the current administration is yet to raise a team to undertake the assignment.
For instance, the Anti-Daba police post allegedly killed two youths, Abubakar Isah and Ibrahim Suleiman at Sharada quarters in the metropolis.

Though the force is yet to accept responsibility, the command’s spokesperson has, however, confirmed arrest of officers behind the dastardly act.

Other killings by security agents abound in the ancient city.

Reacting, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has deplored the governor’s reported lack of enthusiasm to carry out the instruction of the Federal Government.

A chieftain and ally of former Governor Musa Kwankwaso, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam, queried the state government’s coldness to the issue.
