PDP stalwarts, others defect to APC in Ondo
Chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, yesterday, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Among those that defected were a former lawmaker, Adeyinka Banso; a two-time Chairman of Akure North Local Council, Dele Fagoriola; a former Secretary to Odigbo Local Council, Femi Akinwehinmi and a former Chairman of Ondo East Local Council, Charles Adeduro, among others.
The APC chairman, Ade Adetimehin, while receiving the PDP chieftains at the secretariat of the party in Akure, the state capital, said that the chieftains were the pillars of the PDP.
Adetimehin assured the defectors of equal treatment in the party.
Meanwhile, Banso, a former member of the state’s Seventh Assembly, who spoke on behalf of the defectors, said they dropped the PDP owing to lack of focus and vision of the party’s leadership.
He said that the moment PDP picked a presidential candidate from the North, he decided to drop the party because it was a breach of agreement.
