AMID Nigeria’s economic challenges, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has recalled how the nation prospered under the Obasanjo/Atiku presidency between 1999 and 2007, with the then Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, as head of the National Economic Council (NEC).

Also, Senator Aminu Tambuwal has extended best wishes to Atiku as he marked his 78th birthday.
Atiku, was born on November 25, 1946, clocked 78 yesterday.

National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Debo Ologunagba, went down memory lane in a birthday message to Atiku on behalf of the party.

He said, “PDP and Nigerians across board continue to recognise Atiku’s record of performance in the service to our nation, particularly as the Chairman of the NEC under the Obasanjo/Atiku-led administration between 1999 and 2007, during which our nation achieved massive and unparalleled national productivity in all sectors to become one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

Ologunagba said the party was proud of and would always celebrate the PDP presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, who is also one of the founding fathers of the party, “as he marks his birthday today.”

He added, “His outstanding leadership qualities led to the overwhelming support and massive votes from Nigerians across all walks of life for him and our party in the 2019 and 2023 presidential elections, which mandate was unfortunately subverted by undemocratic forces, resulting in the current sorry state of affairs in our nation.

“On this auspicious occasion, the PDP family prays to the Almighty Allah to grant Atiku more wisdom, sound health and strength in the service of our dear fatherland and humanity.”
IN a statement issued on behalf of his family, Tambuwal celebrated Atiku’s milestone, describing it as a moment to reflect on the former Vice President’s remarkable contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria.

“Your Excellency, as you celebrate this significant milestone, it is an opportunity to reflect on the remarkable contributions you have made to the development of our great nation. Your leadership has been a beacon of hope, resilience and selfless service to the people of Nigeria,” Tambuwal stated.

He lauded Atiku’s vision, statesmanship and unwavering commitment to democratic values, emphasising the indelible mark he left on Nigeria’s political landscape.

Tambuwal also praised Atiku’s dedication to fostering national unity, advancing economic reforms and improving governance, noting that his efforts continue to inspire many Nigerians.
