The Plateau State Police Command condemns the attack on Bin’per Community, Bwoi-Ruf District, Mangu Local Government Area, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, 18th August 2026.
To restore confidence and strengthen security in the area, the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Ayodeji Faniyan, on Tuesday paid an on-the-spot assessment visit to the community. During the visit, he commiserated with the traditional council elders of the community, the Local Government Chairman, and the good people of Mangu. He also assessed the security situation and assured them of the Command’s resolve to bring the perpetrators to justice.
A statement by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Alfred Alabo, said CP Faniyan also conveyed the best wishes and condolence message of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to the people of Bin’per Community. He informed them that the IGP has condemned the attack in its entirety and has assured that the Nigeria Police Force will do all that is necessary to forestall any further attack in the area.
While condemning the attack, Faniyan assured the people that the Command will do everything within its constitutional powers to identify, arrest and prosecute those responsible. He also assured residents that security in the area has been strengthened to prevent a recurrence.
The CP urged the community to support the Police with accurate and timely information that can aid ongoing investigations. He further called on residents to remain law-abiding, peaceful and vigilant, and cautioned strongly against taking the law into their own hands, as jungle justice will only escalate tension and affect justice.
“The Plateau State Police Command remains committed to protecting lives and property and maintaining peace and security across the State. Members of the public are therefore advised to remain calm and to promptly provide credible information to the Police”, Faniyan was quoted as saying.
