Plateau egg glut: Lalong distributes excess to schools, prisons, others

Following the egg glut in Plateau State, Governor Simon Lalong has directed that excess eggs be mopped up and distributed to orphanage homes, prisons, schools and hospitals.

Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Danladi Atu, in a statement, yesterday, acknowledged the egg business as a thriving enterprise in the state and a source of income for a large number of families.

Accordingly, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Lynda Barau, has been mandated to liaise with officials of the Poultry Farmers Association and relevant bodies to work out modalities for implementing the policy with immediate effect to save the industry.

Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, Dr. Makut Simon Macham, urged members of the public and relevant organisations to cooperate with the government and its relevant agencies towards implementing the policy.
