Police apprehend septuagenarian for insulting Buhari, Masari


The Katsina State police command has arrested a 70-year-old man, Lawal Abdullahi alias Izala, for contemptuously insulting President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Aminu Masari on social media.

Abdullahi was arrested along with two others, Bahajaje Abu, 30, and Hamza Abubakar, 27, after a viral video showed the septugenarian using cursing words against Buhari and Masari.

In a statement issued to newsmen, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Gambo Isah, said the suspects confessed to have committed the crime.

According to the Isah, the attention of the state police command was drawn to a viral video on social media, hence the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Sanusi Buba, ordered for investigation, which led to the arrest of the trio of Lawal Abdullahi Izala, Bahajaje Abu, and Hamza Abubakar, all of Gafai Quarters, Katsina, Katsina state.
