Police burst syndicate of Total engine-oil adulterators in Lagos

A three-man syndicate that specialized in adulterating Total automobile engine oil, print patented stickers of different calibers
of the company’s products have been arrested in Lagos.

Sources said the trio identified as Nnamdi Ikwuanasi, Joshua Sekunitile and Ogunmakun Adegoke, a Business Administration graduate of UNILAG and an ex-staff of Total Oil Company were arrested in their respective hideouts by police operatives attached to Area ‘D’ commands  

Headquarters Mushin, led by the Area Commander, ACP Olasoji Akinbayo.  

It was gathered that a team of police patrol team, which was on routine patrol of Isolo/Mushin areas had spotted a man later identified as Joshua on top a motor-cycle popularly called Okada suspiciously holding a black polythene bag and demanded to know the content.

When the bag was opened, sources said over 7,000 Total oil stickers were discovered in it.

It was gathered that when Joshua could not give cogent reason on how he came about the patented stickers, he was promptly arrested and taken to the station; where he confessed that he was only contracted to print the stickers by one Nnamdi who resides somewhere along Lagos- Badagry expressway.

Shocked by this revelation, the Area Commander was said to have personally led a team of detectives to 129 Badagry expressway Ilaje bus stop in Ojo local government area of the state where the said Nnamdi was arrested, adding that he later took policemen to a warehouse somewhere in Ishashi where large quantities of the stickers and empty oil cans were recovered.

It was learnt that further investigation revealed that though, Joshua trained as a printer; he too contracted the job to one Adegoke
Ogunmakun since he does not own a printing machine.

The Police also stormed Gokson Palace Enterprises somewhere in Mushin where the
stickers were printed.

Efforts by newsmen to get the reaction of the Area D Commander, ACP Olasoji Akinbayo proved abortive as he directed him to the Police Public Relations Officer CSP Chike Oti stressing that he was not authorized to address newsmen.

However, several calls put to CSP Chike Oti to react to the arrest rang out unresponded to. But a top Police source at the Command
Headquarters Ikeja who confirmed the arrest informed that the three suspects who are still in police custody had confessed to the crime.
