Police dock man for receiving stolen vehicle
The police yesterday docked an unemployed man, Semiu Oloyede, at a Badagry Magistrates’ Court for allegedly receiving a stolen Nissan Cabstar Pickup vehicle valued at N700,000. Oloyede is facing a count charge of receiving a stolen vehicle.
The prosecutor, Insp. Clement Okumose, told the court that the accused committed the offence on January 15, at Black Sign Board, Magbon, in the Badagry area of Lagos State.
Okumose said the defendant received one Nissan Cabstar Pickup vehicle with registration number XT 760 KRD, valued at N700,000 from one Bolaji Olajide. He added that the stolen vehicle belonged to Opeoluwa Ogundipe, the complainant. The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 328 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Chief Magistrate, Aka Bashorun, admitted him to bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum. He adjourned further hearing in the case until December 11.
