The Katsina State Police Command has said a joint security operation foiled a bandits’ attack and neutralised one of the hoodlums in Dutsinma Local Government Area.

A statement by a spokesperson for the command, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, said the incident occurred on Saturday, March 15, at about 12:30 p.m.

He said several items were recovered as exhibits from the area, including an AK-47 rifle and ammunition, a motorcycle, wraps of Indian hemp, and dangerous drugs.

“In a successful joint operation, the Katsina State Police Command, under the able leadership of CP Aliyu Musa, in collaboration with the Department of State Services and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), foiled a planned bandits’ attack on Dan Takuri village via Danmusa LGA of Katsina State.

“On the 15th of March, 2025, at about 12:30 hrs, based on credible intelligence received from an operative of the Department of State Services in Danmusa, armed bandits in their numbers were assembling in Maijele Mountain of Danmusa LGA in a bid to launch an attack on Dan Takuri village of Danmusa LGA, Katsina.

“Upon receipt of the information, a joint team of police operatives and members of the KSCWC, led by the DPO Danmusa, promptly stormed the mountain where the suspected armed bandits were assembling.

“A fierce gun duel ensued, resulting in the neutralisation of one of the armed bandits due to the superior tactics and firepower of the operatives, while several others escaped with various degrees of injuries.

“While scanning the scene, the following exhibits were recovered: one AK-47 rifle with three rounds of 7.62mm ammunition; one unregistered red Boxer motorcycle; 50 wraps of suspected Indian hemp; 32 bottles of soft drinks; one cutlass; and dangerous drugs.

“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Musa, while commending the operatives for their professionalism and exceptional act of valour, reiterates the command’s commitment, in collaboration with sister security agencies, to ensuring the protection of lives and properties of the good people of Katsina.

“He further urged the public to continue to support the command with timely and accurate information for prompt and decisive action against all criminal elements in the state.”
