The Katsina State Police Command has said it successfully dismantled a notorious seven-man armed robbery syndicate and recovered items recently robbed from victims in the state.
Spokesperson for the command, DPS Abubakar Aliyu, who made this known in a statement on Sunday evening, said the armed robbery syndicate was dismantled following complaint by one of their victims on June 19.
Aliyu said the victim complained that the suspects, wielding dangerous weapons, broke into his family house at about 2:00am, and robbed the occupants of valuables.
He said investigation led to the arrest of the suspects, and recovery of some items believe to have been stolen from hapless victims.
“On June 19, 2026, at about 2:00 am, one Surajo, reported at the Central Police Station, Katsina, that a gang of armed robbers, wielding dangerous weapons including cutlasses and clubs, criminally conspired; broke into his family residence at Unwala Quarters, Katsina; and robbed the occupants of valuables.
“The stolen items included two UD motorcycles, seven mobile phones (comprising an iPhone 14 Pro Max, Techno Spark 7, Huawei, iPhone XR, Samsung, and Redmi), and two power banks.
“Upon receipt of the report, quickly, operatives were drafted to investigate. Through an intelligence-led investigation, the team successfully apprehended all seven primary suspects.
“The arrested suspects are identified as:
Sulaiman Sabo alias Labule, Muhammad Aminu, 20, Muhammad Yahaya, Muhammad Daddy, 20, Aliyu Kabir, Musa Kabir, 20, and Ahmad Usman, 23.
“During interrogation, all seven suspects voluntarily confessed to the commission of the offense. A search of the suspects’ hideouts and possessions led to the recovery of the following operational weapons and suspected stolen items:
“Five stolen mobile phones, two stolen power banks, two cutlasses, one pinch bar (housebreaking tool), one flashlight, and a bunch of master keys.
“The suspects further mentioned four other accomplices currently at large who aided in disposing of the stolen property. They are Dahiru Nuhu Tsoho; Ibrahim, alias Iro, Shafi’u Lawal; and Aminu C. The suspects in custody will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
“Efforts are in top gear to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspects and recover the remaining stolen items.
“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali Umar Fage, commends the operatives for their swift response and urges members of the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting the command with timely and actionable information to help rid the state of all forms of crime and criminality.”
