President hinges nation’s growth on stable academic calendar
President Muhammadu Buhari has stressed the need for universities to maintain a stable academic calendar for the attainment of national development goals owing to the key role they have to play in bring the aspiration to fruition.
He made the submission in his address to the 24th convocation of the University of Abuja at the weekend.
Buhari noted that the challenges facing the nation’s education section could not be solved by government alone but through concerted efforts involving parents, stakeholders and the entire society.
Represented by the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, the president explained that no nation had achieved appreciable socio-economic development without tangible transformation of its education system.
He, therefore, reiterated his administration’s commitment to provide Nigerians equal access to education at all levels.
