President lauds UN’s move to revive Lake Chad
President Muhammadu Buhari has welcomed the move by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to co-chair a special session to raise $50 billion to fund the inter-basin water transfer from Central Africa to revive the Lake Chad.
Receiving the response of the UN chief to his earlier letter routed through the President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, at the State House, Abuja yesterday, the president noted that such a special forum was necessary in view of the financial outlay which is beyond the reach of member-countries.
He commended Adesina’s four-year stewardship at the bank.
