The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of three new universities in Delta State.

After NUC’s approval, the government has named a governing council to oversee the institutions upgraded to universities.

Professor Robert Ikomi, Chief Godson Echejile, and other competent people were carefully chosen as members of the Delta State Universities Planning Committee.

Professor Emmanuel Nwanze, who was also selected as a member of the Delta State Universities planning Committee in April 2021 along with others, has now been designated as the Chairman governing councils of the new universities in Delta State.

Nwanze, a professor of Biochemistry was Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin from 2004 to 2009 and has sat on many administrative boards and educational committees.
