Some residents in Enugu state Monday took to the street to protest the suspension of Walter Onnoghen as Nigeria’s chief justice.

The protesters were seen carrying placards calling for the reinstatement of the embattled Chief Justice who was suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari based on an order by the Code of Conduct Tribunal over allegations of non declaration of assets.

Buhari has since replaced the suspended chief justice with acting CJN Ibrahim Tanko Muhammed. The president said the allegations against Onnoghen were “grievous enough” for his suspension.

The suspension sparked mixed reactions from individuals and groups within and outside the country.

Details later.
