Publisher gifts cash award to first class graduate


A PR guru and publisher of Economic confidential and PRNigeria Magazines Yusahu Abdulhamid Shuaib has awarded cash gift of N50,000 to Usman Bello Balarabe, a first class graduate of faculty of Communication, Bayero University, Kano.

The best graduating student of the Department of Mass Communication was among the 105 first class candidates that received multiple encomia during the recent 35th convocation ceremony of the university.

The young brain who bowed out of the faculty with CGPA of 4.52 is among six first-class products ever produced in over 35 years of the creation of the department.


Speaking the ceremony organised by the department, Mr Shuaibu, a 1992 graduate of the department, expressed satisfaction on the academic excellence set by Balarabe.

The PR executive stressed that the cash prize and award were intended to promote scholarship among students of the faculty to equally strive harder in pursuance of their academic.

While pledged to sustain the prize award with a special endowment for a best graduating student of Mass Communication, Shuaibu worried over lack of prize to encourage exceptional academic performance in the faculty.

Head of the department, Mass Communication, Dr Haruna Ismail applauded the initiative and support of the PRNigeria publisher.

Dr Ismail who extolled the diligence and dedication of the first class graduate despite his poor background insisted no circumstances should retard students from attaining success.

The awardee Balarabe who was full of gratitude attributed his academic success to a commitment to studies and spiritual dedication.
