Renowned political scientist, Olukotun, dies
Renowned political scientist, media scholar and Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona Professorial Chair in Governance, Political Science Department of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, Prof. Ayo Olukotun, is dead.
A statement said the deceased’s works have shaped public policy and discourse in the last three decades.
Olukotun lectured at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, University of Lagos and Lagos State University and was a visiting Professor of International Relations at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
He was also Head, Department of Political Science and Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences at Lead City University, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The statement added that as a journalist, the late don was Chairman of the Editorial Board of Daily Times and through his weekly penetrative columns that have appeared in Daily Times, The Guardian, Compass and Punch and several other frontline newspapers, Prof. Olukotun evoked deep ideas to challenge issues of bad governance in Nigeria, while copiously recommending alternative pathways to national redemption.
