Contractors handling projects in the power sector have been directed to return to site following easing of the COVID-19 lockdown.
Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, who gave the directive while inspecting the new Gagarawa 60 MVA 132/33 KV substation being constructed by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in Jigawa State, acknowledged that the industry was among the worst hit, with the entire value chain directly or indirectly counting losses.
He said the contractors must return to work, as government makes efforts to restart the economy.
Governor Abubakar Badaru, who was also at the location, regretted that the project had been elusive for over two decades.
