Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Zakari Kazaure, yesterday reassured corps members of the upward review of their allowance, saying it would take effect with the new national minimum wage.

Kazaure disclosed this shortly after the swearing in ceremony of 2019 Batch A Corp members at the NYSC FCT Permanent Orientation Camp, Kubwa, Abuja.

He also assured Nigerians that the scheme is ready to mobilise students of the National Open University Nigeria (NOUN) for national service as soon as it gets a directive from the federal government to include students of the institution for mobilization.

Meanwhile, the Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Abubakar Bagudu has assured the 2019 Batch A’ Corps members that adequate security measures have been put in place to safeguard their lives and properties throughout their stays in the Camp and beyond.

The Governor said this at the opening and swearing in ceremony of the 2019 Batch A’ Corps members held at the Dakingari Camp.

He said that the NYSC has undergone rapid transformation over the years through the introduction of programmes that are relevant to contemporary National issues and graduate youth productivity.

“The skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development training for Corps Members in the orientation curricula, the posting policy targeted at rural areas and some vital sectors of economy, health initiative for rural dwellers are indeed bold steps in the right direction,” he added.
