Rivers CP orders detention of officer over alleged sexual assault of 17-year-old girl

Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday, has ordered the detention of a police officer, Inspector Salihu Kazeem, for alleged sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl, as well as, taking her nude videos in Port Harcourt.

CP Friday ordered the suspect’s detention after hearing from the victim, Binla, while ordering investigation into the matter.

He also directed that persons mentioned in the statement of the victim and the Inspector should be invited to give voluntary statements.

The Guardian learnt that the victim and the accused have written their statements at the human rights desk of the Police Command headquarters, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.

It was also gathered that the affected police officer is not serving in Rivers State, but Bayelsa State, adding that the Android phone, belonging to the 17-year-old victim, which Inspector Kazeem seized from her, has been recovered.

Recall that the 17-year-old girl had alleged that Kazeem stripped her and her friend naked, took their nude videos and sexually abused them, while using same video to constantly blackmail them, after accusing them of stealing his N500,000.

Kazeem denied taking their nude video or abusing them sexually, but admitted to having consensual sex with the 17-year-old girl whom he said he paid.
