Rotary Club donates 25 baby cots to Lagos maternity hospital

To facilitate cervical cancer vaccines for 2,500 girls

The Rotary Club of Falomo, yesterday, donated 25 baby cots worth millions of naira to Lagos Island Maternity Hospital in Lagos State.

District Governor, Rotary International District 9110, Omotunde Lawson, who presented the baby cots to the management of the hospital during her official visit to the hospital, said the baby cots were part of the urgent needs of the hospital.

Lawson, who stressed that nursing mothers face a lot of challenges sleeping on the same bed as their newborn babies, said that the district would facilitate the vaccination of 2,500 girls to protect them against cervical cancer.

Also speaking, the President of the Rotary Club of Falomo, Tolulope Ogundipe, said despite the global economic downturn, the club is still able to raise money for projects because of the commitment and dedication of its members.

He urged the maternity hospital to make judicious use of the items donated.

Meanwhile, Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Olufemi Balogun, who received the baby cots, said the donation would be very useful to the hospital.
