SARS operatives in Lagos adhere to IGP’s directives on uniform

Sequel to the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, officers attached to the Federal Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) of the Lagos State police command are now dressed in their official police uniform. 
 
The police special operatives, led by the officer in charge of the unit, Peter Gana, a Chief Superintendent of Police, were seen in their numbers during a parade of criminal suspects by the Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, at the command headquarter in Ikeja.
 
Shortly after the parade, The Guardian who visited the unit’s building observed from the gate down to the floors of the three-storey structure that every officer were either in black uniform, black and light blue or in their police camouflage uniforms, except visitors to the unit. It was also observed that majority of the officers who usually look weird with ear rings and coloured hair have all changed, making them look approachable.

Edgal also warned the officers never to operate in commercial vehicles. He urged members of the public to alert the police leadership anytime they see people in mufti or inside a commercial vehicle operating or claiming to be FSARS operatives.
 
The police boss said it is no longer acceptable for FSARS personnel to operate in any other type of clothes except the full police uniform.
 
The CP also to call the attention of residents of Agungi, in the Lekki-Ajah area of Lagos, to be on the lookout for a wine coloured bus with registration number EKY 841. According to him, the vehicle is said to be used by some men parading themselves as FSARS officials, saying, “we have sufficient grounds to believe that they are imposters”.
