Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Army have killed a wanted kidnapper and cultist, Oluchi Igwedibia, allegedly responsible for the killing of 21 persons in Omoku, Rivers State on New Year’s Day.

Oluchi (alias Obatosu) who was a younger brother of the slain notorious kidnapper, Don Wanny, was among 32 cultists declared wanted recently by the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike.

Wike, who revealed the killing of Igwedibia yesterday, commended the security agents for the joint operation that led to the death of the kidnapper.
“The younger brother of the late Don Wanny was killed at Sabo Iyakpe, Etsako West in Edo State on Sunday, January 28, 2018 following accurate DSS intelligence. The late Igwedibia played a prominent role in the New Year killings by Don Wanny gang in Omoku. All those declared wanted will be brought to justice,” he said.

Wike declared that the N20 million voted for credible information that would lead to the arrest of the wanted cultists was still in place. He said the government would continue to work with security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure that Rivers State is safe.

Oluchi had been alleged by sources in Omoku to have led members of his late brother’s gang to kill 21 persons, including women and children, who were returning home from church in Omoku on New Year’s Day.
