Senate to measure MDAs on legislative compliance
Chairman, Senate Committee on Legislative Compliance, Aderele Adeyemi Oriolowo (Osun West) yesterday said the Senate will build a better Nigeria through discipline and utilisation of local human and natural resources, especially in government’s ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
Oriolowo, who spoke to The Guardian in his office at the weekend, said the committee will make an impact on the performance in all aspects of the lives of Nigerians.
“Legislative compliance is one huge task for the legislature in relation to the various institutions of government. It is a relatively new committee as far as the Senate and the House of Representatives are concerned compared to other standing committees of both chambers.”
“While in the past activities of the committees have been restricted to the National Assembly matters alone, one could see that the scope of this committee is far-reaching at the moment,” he said.
