Vice President Kashim Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to diversifying Nigeria’s economy, describing him as a leader with the political courage to take bold and decisive actions.

“In President Tinubu, you have an ally and a friend, who understands business and commerce, who knows the economic terrain, and, most importantly, who has the political courage to act,” Shettima told the delegation led by NES President, Prof. Adeola Adenikinju.

He urged the NES to provide practical solutions to national challenges, assuring them that the Tinubu administration remained open to their perspectives”.

IN his response, Adenikinju described the government’s reforms as bold and result-oriented.

He pledged the society’s support, called for the revival of the Economic Intelligence Unit in the Presidency to enhance evidence-based policymaking, and announced that the NES would honour Shettima with its highest award, Fellow of the Nigerian Economic Society (FNES), at its national conference in Abuja on September 9.

In a related development, the Federal Government is considering establishing a Presidential Task Team to conceptualise and operationalise good architecture in Nigeria as part of efforts to standardise the nation’s design and construction framework.
